[beasiswa] [info] One PhD opening at Computer Vision Lab Dresden (Carsten Rother, Michael Yang)

Holistic Scene Understanding is one of the fundamental challenges in computer vision. At the Computer Vision Lab in Dresden (CVLD) we are interested in Scene Understanding and reasoning about objects spatially and temporally using monocular image sequences, with focus on the applications such as urban traffic surveillance and indoor semantic scene understanding. The goal of this project is to develop 3D semantic representations and efficient inference methods based on probabilistic graphical models that reason about the scene geometry and assign semantic class labels to objects. We are looking for a passionate student, interested in solving such high-level computer vision tasks with the help of statistical models. You should possess an excellent Master's degree in computer science (or a related field), with a focus on computer vision and/or machine learning. A solid mathematical background and good programming (C++, Python, or MATLAB) and computer skills are required. You have done some previous research in this field (e.g., internships, research papers, etc.). We expect that you know why you want to do a PhD with us. We at the Computer Vision Lab in Dresden offer a friendly working environment in a lovely old town in Germany, with a high quality of life. Our group is a young and vibrant, international team, actively publishing at major computer vision conferences (ICCV, CVPR, ECCV). For more details please visit http://www.cvlab-dresden.de. This PhD position is open at CVLD, headed by Prof. Carsten Rother and will be supervised jointly by Dr. Michael Yang and Prof. Carsten Rother. This position will last for three years and is funded by German Research Foundation (DFG). The working language is English. Salary and benefits according to public service pay scale (TVL). TU Dresden is an equal opportunity employer, women and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply. To apply for this position, please send your application to yang@tnt.uni-hannover.de and Carsten.Rother@tu-dresden.de. Your application must include your CV, university transcripts, academic records, and references to (international) people who can talk about your research abilities. Please also include your thesis and, if available, your latest research papers. If you have any further questions about this position, please contact us by email.
