The Department of Computing and Communications invites applications for two full-time PhD studentships starting in October 2015 under the supervision of Professor Andrea Zisman.Ê Professor Andrea ZismanÕs research interests are in the areas of software and services engineering (http://www9.open.ac.uk/mct-cc/people/andrea.zisman). The two available studentships are in the topics of self-aware software systems, self-adaptation of systems-of-systems, and security and cyber-physical systems. The Department provides an outstanding research environment with research in the areas of Language, Multimedia and Network technologies; Human-Centered Computing; Design and Software Engineering; and Technology Education. Successful applicants will be part of the Software Engineering and Design Group and will work in collaboration with members of the group and its several research projects (http://crc.open.ac.uk/8025715400585BA0/(httpTopics)/8810200C4DBCC9D9802571F60039D8D7?OpenDocument). Studentships cover tuition fees and a stipend of around £14,000 per year. These are full-time three-year studentships and you would be required to live in the UK and usually within commuting distance of the Milton Keynes OU campus.Ê Successful applicants will be allocated office space and computer facilities in the Department and receive funding for research expenses, training and conference participation. We are looking for highly motivated candidates who have a good honours degree at a minimum of 2:1 or equivalent in a related subject. Ideally you will have prior experience of academic research, possibly at Masters level or beyond. Your application should comprise a 600-1000 words research proposal and a covering letter outlining your suitability for your chosen project.
