Two Postdoctoral Research Positions in Human Behavior, Physiology and Neuroimaging

Laboratory of Behavioral Genetics, Brain Mind Institute, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland

Two postdoctoral positions are immediately available to investigate the interactions between stress, physiological and neurophysiological responses, and aggressive behaviors in humans.

Postdoc 1: A study on Human Social Behaviors involving Virtual Reality and Physiological Monitoring

We are searching for an excellent candidate with a Ph.D. in neuroscience, psychology or other related fields, with a strong track record on the use of virtual reality and behavioral analyses in humans (e.g., fear conditioning; computer-based tasks). Experience in the field of stress-induction or drug administration procedures in humans and/or imaging approaches would be an advantage, but is not required.

Postdoc 2: A study on Human Social Behaviors involving EEG and Physiological Monitoring

We are searching for an excellent candidate with a Ph.D. in neuroscience, physics, psychology or other related fields, with a strong track record on the use of EEG in humans. Experience in neuro-feedback, fMRI or pharmacological approaches would be an advantage, but is not required.

A strong interest in interdisciplinary work and, particularly, in linking stress neurobiology with social behaviors –particularly aggression and social dominance- in humans would also be an additional asset. English is required and a good knowledge of French would be an advantage.

Both projects involve the study of different aspects of human social behaviors and physiological responses linked to aggression. They include a core collaboration between Prof. Carmen Sandi, Laboratory of Behavioral Genetics and Prof. Michael Herzog, EPFL, Lausanne.

The research will be conducted at the Laboratory of Behavioral Genetics (http://lgc.epfl.ch/) at the Brain Mind Institute, EPFL, Lausanne (http://bmi.epfl.ch/), a center dedicated to exploring the emergence of higher brain function across multiple levels ranging from gene expression to cognition and emotional processing.

The positions are immediately available, though starting time can be negotiated (initial contract for 1 year, extendable for 2-3 additional years).

Applications will be started to be reviewed from August 15th 2015 until the position gets filled.

Interested candidates should send by email a SINGLE pdf document including: CV, a research statement -indicating scientific interests and relevant experience- and the names and contact details of 3 reference persons to: Prof. Carmen Sandi (carmen.sandi@epfl.ch).
