Dear all:
There is a postdoc/PhD position available in molecular simulation of
biomass dissolution in my Molecular Simulations and Transformations group
at RWTH Aachen University.
The position is intended to study both the decrystallization of bulk
cellulose as well as the decomposition of its components in various solvent
media using a combination of techniques, including classical and reactive
molecular dynamics as well as Monte Carlo techniques. Possible specific
areas of study include: decomposition of lignin, coarse-grained models of
cellulose decomposition, simulation of novel electrolytic solvents, and
more. As part of the Tailor-Made Fuels from Biomass cluster of excellence
at RWTH, close collaboration with other experimental and computational
groups is expected.
Please note that approximately 15% of the position is expected to be
devoted to teaching activities of the research group (that is, roughly
25-30% of one semester each year).
Candidates should have a completed master's degree in a relevant field,
experience with computer modeling and simulation (molecular simulations
preferred), good knowledge of English, and the ability to work
independently. Creativity, flexibility, and teamwork are also desired.
Start date is as soon as possible; applications will be considered until
the position is filled, with a deadline of *30 September 2013*. The
position is funded according to the TV-L 13 guidelines.
