phD-student : Münster

Max Planck Institute for Moelcular Biomedicine: job description

The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine has one opening for a

PhD Student
(position-code 09-2011)

to investigate the cellular mechanisms regulating blood vessel formation (Dr. Arndt Siekmann) in developing zebrafish.

The group of Dr. Arndt Siekmann studies the signaling pathways important during endothelial cell differentiation and angiogenic growth of the vasculature. An additional interest lies in the guidance cues that play a role in endothelial cell migration. Possible projects involve studying blood vessel formation during regeneration of the zebrafish fins and the analysis of genes regulated by changes in blood flow. Technical approaches include genetic studies, involving the use of zinc finger nucleases to introduce mutagenic lesions, confocal and time-lapse microscopy, immunohistochemistry, cell transplantation studies, molecular biology and bioinformatics. For further information please visit the Siekmann lab website: http://www.mpi-muenster.mpg.de/research/teams/groups/rgsiekmann/index.html

The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine (http://www.mpi-muenster.mpg.de/) offers an excellent international research environment.

We invite applications by enthusiastic, committed and highly talented PhD students who wish to join our laboratory. The employment contract is based on the regulations of the Max Planck Society for two years with the ambition for extension. The institute offers a very international environment with English being the language spoken in the laboratories.

The Max Planck Society is committed to employing more handicapped individuals and especially encourages them to apply. The Max Planck Society seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply.

Please send your application (with the position-code 09-2011) and CV and the names of 2
referees via email to:
