The city has approximately 230,000 people of which approximately 40,000 are students. This makes it large enough to be lively and have all the facilities students need but small enough to be friendly and welcoming. Southampton offers a wealth of entertainment including cinemas, theatres, concert halls and art galleries; a wide variety of sporting facilities; and one of the UK's largest shopping centres. Southampton offers a safe and multicultural environment to all our students. Southampton is surrounded by areas of natural beauty such as the New Forest and the Isle of Wight and is easily reached from the international airports of Heathrow and Gatwick. Southampton Airport has flights to other cities in the UK and to Europe which means students can obtain a full cultural experience and broaden their horizons by travelling to other cities and countries. We are also close to the historic and beautiful city of Winchester which is also home to our Winchester School of Art. The city has approximately 40,000 people which makes it a peaceful and relaxing place to study and live in. Winchester has a cinema, theatres, art galleries, shopping centres and many beautiful walking routes. It is less than one hour to London and 20 minutes to Southampton so students can easily access facilities of larger cities | | | | Further Information | | For more information about the University of Southampton please visit www.southampton.ac.uk/international You can also visit our booth at European Higher Education Fair on the following dates: Jakarta 3-4 November 2012 Thamrin Nine Ballroom, Jl MH Thamrin no 9, Jakarta 11.00-18.00 Medan 6 November 2012 Hotel Aryaduta Medan Jl.
